Ocean Alliance to undergo massive structural changes as 'Day 3' approaches. Here's what's in it for Bansard International, as well as how those changes will affect the group's activities for the coming years.

'Day 3' Announces Big Changes for the OCEAN ALLIANCE

The OCEAN ALLIANCE (CMA CGM, APL, EVERGREEN, COSCO and OOCL) was launched in Spring 2017. It's Day 2 product was launched in April last year and had an estimated carrying capacity of around 3.6 million TEUs. This year's product, namely the 'Day 3', will bring further improved optimisation and an even more competitive offer, including : 38 services, 330 vessels (of which 111 provided by CMA CGM Group) and a total increased capacity of 700,000 TEUs ; raising the total number of TEUs all the way up to 3.86 million, according to CMA CGM Group Chairman and CEO, Rodolphe SaadĂ©.

OCEAN ALLIANCE's Day 3 Products will be launched from beginning of April and the services are going to be greatly upgraded as a consequence. The Group claims it will bring 'the largest service offer on the Transpacific trade' with :

  • 19 services,
  • A strengthened offer between Asia and Europe with the addition of a seventh service,
  • A large offer between Asia and the Mediterranean with four services,
  • Two Transatlantic services linking North Europe to the East Coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico,
  • Two Asia-Red Sea services,
  • Becoming the only alliance offering four services between Asia and the Middle East.

 

Here are some highlights of the changes that will directly affect Bansard International's activity :

 

  • AEU1 (COSCO) / FX5-FAL5 (CMA/APL) /  NE1 (EMC):

Exclusive and fast call to ZEE to serve the cargos ship to Belgium and Northern France and also can be a back up of ANR/DKK
Direct call from Xiamen
Vessel operators: OOCL + COSCO

 

  • AEU3 (COSCO) / FX2-FAL2 (CMA/APL) / NE3 (EMC):

Full coverage or North CHINA base ports to Antwerp (direct call)
Piraeus as hub to serve cargos to EMED and NAF
Vessel operator: COSCO

 

  • AEU7 (COSCO) / FX7-FAL7 (CMA/APL) / NE7 (EMC ):

Full coverage of South CHINA base ports to Zeebrugge (Antwerp) direct call , the 2nd weekly sailing from Xiamen direct call
Antwerp call to be moved and replaced by Zeebrugge

Piraeus as hub to serve cargos to EMED and NAF
Exclusive direct call from Cai Mep
Vessel operators : EMC + COSCO

 

  • AEU2 (COSCO) / FX1-FAL1 (CMA/APL) / FAL1 (EMC):

Direct call from Busan to cover Korea and Japan export to Europe
Current direct call of Tianjin to be removed to further improve TT from NGB/SHA/YTN
Well known exclusive call to DKK
Vessel operator : CMA CGM

 

  • AEU6 (COSCO) / FX3-FAL3 (CMA/APL) / FAL3 (EMC):

Well-known best service from CHNA to Le Havre, no changes
Direct call from Cai Mep
Vessel operator: CMA CGM + APL

 

  • AEU9:

Brand new services deployed by new big size vessels
Fastest TT from SHA/NGB/SZX to Antwerp
Exclusive direct call from Kaohsiung and Colombo
Due to it is a brand new service, the rate policy might be more flexible
Vessel operators: EMC + COSCO

No change on the POL calls, but the transit time to FOS will be improved since it will become the third call before the POD (instead of the fourth, as things are today).
